Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers acknowledges that two bids have been made for Wesley Fofana, a reported target for Chelsea.

Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged that Leicester City have rejected two bids for defender Wesley Fofana.

The Frenchman penned a new contract as recently as March, tying him to the King Power Stadium until the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

However, in recent weeks, Chelsea have registered an interest in the 21-year-old as they bid to find a replacement for Andreas Christensen on the right-hand side of their back three.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that the Blues were considering spending in the region of £80m on Fofana in an effort to get a deal over the line.

That development allegedly comes in response to the Foxes rejecting at least one formal approach and maintaining a stance that their most prized asset is not for sale.

At a press conference on Thursday, Rodgers was again quizzed on the matter, reiterating that Leicester have little interest in giving the green light to a sale for the current offer which is on the table.

Speaking to reporters, Rodgers said: "There was two, but nowhere near what the club would consider. We're not looking to sell. Naturally if there's interest from other clubs, that is looked at by the club. He's a top young defender and there are not too many around his age.

Reports have indicated that Fofana would prefer to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, but Rodgers has suggested that one of his key men is content with life in the East Midlands.

The Northern Irishman added: "Another year for him at least would be really important for his development. Wesley is quite calm on the situation. He is aware of the interest. He's just getting on with his work."

Leicester are the only Premier League side not to make a single first-team addition during the current transfer window, a consequence of limited transfer funds.

There has also been a lack of space in the first-team squad, but that predicament has been eased by the departures of Kasper Schmeichel and Hamza Choudhury.

Meanwhile, Chelsea used Cesar Azpilicueta in the position earmarked for Fofana against Everton, the Spaniard contributing to the clean sheet and victory at Goodison Park.

However, head coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted on more than one occasion that he wants to add at least one more centre-back to this squad.
