Report: Real Madrid want Cesc Fabregas

A report claims that Real Madrid will attempt to sign unsettled Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing an ambitious move for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in a deal that would cause waves at Barcelona.

Fabregas, 28, joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and played a key role in the London club's Premier League title success last season.

The Spaniard's form has dropped this term, however, and he was booed by his own supporters during Chelsea's 3-1 win over Sunderland at the weekend.

It is believed that sections of the Stamford Bridge support hold Fabregas partly responsible for Jose Mourinho's recent sacking and according to Fichajes.net, the player could cut his losses in January and ask for a return to Spain.

The same report claims that it is Real Madrid that are closely monitoring the midfielder, who came through the academy at Barcelona before returning to the Catalan club for three years in 2011.

Despite Fabregas's close ties with Barcelona, he had a fractured relationship with the club's supporters during the latter stages of his time at Camp Nou, and it is understood that he would be open to moving to the Bernabeu ahead of Euro 2016.
