Report: Romelu Lukaku handed in transfer request at Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku submitted a transfer request at Chelsea before he joined Everton on loan in September, according to a report.

The striker, who has been criticised by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for not revealing why he joined the Toffees, apparently asked to leave Stamford Bridge after missing the decisive penalty against Bayern Munich in the Super Cup.

However, BT Sport claims that the Blues rejected his request and instead decided to agree to a loan move.

Lukaku has scored seven league goals so far for Everton.
