Chelsea transfer news: One-game starlet joins Eredivisie club on season-long loan

One-game Chelsea starlet signs for Dutch club on season-long loan

Chelsea youngster Kiano Dyer has completed a season-long loan move to a club competing in the Eredivisie.

The England Under-19 international is viewed as one of the Blues' top prospects, highlighted by already making 46 appearances at Chelsea Under-21 level.

His potential has also been recognised by a late substitute appearance in the Conference League fixture against Kazakh side FC Astana in December.

However, with Chelsea earning qualification to the Champions League for 2025-26 and Enzo Maresca's squad being stocked with central midfielders, there is little prospect of a second senior outing for the foreseeable future.

As such, the world champions have given the green light for the teenager to spend the season in the Netherlands with FC Volendam.

In a statement on their X account, Volendam said: "Kiano is a top talent who can technically execute quickly and well in less time and the small space.

"Kiano played the U19 European Championship last summer and has already debuted in Chelsea's first team."

Volendam earned a return to the Eredivisie for 2025-26 by winning last season's second-tier title, and they have already made an impact this campaign.

They have recorded draws in each of their opening four matches, a run that has including holding the likes of AZ Alkmaar and Ajax.

Those performances could lead to Dyer having to bide his time for a first start, but Chelsea officials will be hopeful that the starlet can make an impact at Kras Stadium.

Chelsea took a similar approach when loaning fellow academy player Charlie Webster to Heerenveen in 2023-24, and the deal is not expected to count as one of the club's six foreign loans due to it involving a teenage homegrown player.
