Leeds United have reportedly identified Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as a summer transfer target.
With Mudryk having been left out of Chelsea's squad for their final pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad last weekend, the assumption is that he is available to leave Stamford Bridge.
There has been as many as 12 players training away from Xabi Alonso's first-team squad. While not specifically name-checked, Mudryk is likely to have featured in that group.
Coventry City and Strasbourg have each been suggested as potential destinations for the Ukrainian star, who recently saw a doping ban lifted.
However, as per sports broadcaster Ben Jacobs, Leeds have emerged as a leading candidate.
Leeds join race for Chelsea winger Mudryk
The report alleges that Leeds have already enquired over the terms of a potential loan deal.
Although it is stressed that talks are not at an advanced stage, the 25-year-old is one of a number of players being considered.
Furthermore, Mudryk is said to be open to the switch to Elland Road as he contemplates how to kick-start his career.
Mudryk has not made a competitive appearance since a Conference League tie versus Heidenheim on November 28, 2024.
He made three brief substitute appearances on Chelsea's recent tour of Asia.
Why Mudryk should reject loan offer from Leeds
Having successfully converted to a back three towards the back end of 2025, Farke either deployed a 3-4-2-1, 3-4-1-2 or 3-5-2 formation for the remainder of the campaign.
In all three instances, Farke did not use a traditional winger. Using two number 10s before a main striker was as close as he got.
Therefore, it is questionable whether Leeds is the right club for a player like Mudryk, who could be viewed as something different off the substitutes' bench as opposed to an attacker who will be a permanent fixture in Farke's starting lineup.
While signing for Leeds has obvious appeal, Mudryk should be advised to sign for a club where he is guaranteed more game time.
