Chelsea 'step up Havertz talks after sealing CL spot'

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal for in-demand Kai Havertz after qualifying for next season's Champions League.

The Blues, who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 on Sunday to finish fourth in the Premier League, have already snapped up Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Havertz is widely considered to be Frank Lampard's other attacking target, but Chelsea held off from tabling a bid while their Champions League fate was in the balance.

German outlet Bild claims that the West London outfit are now in advanced talks with Bayer, however, and are hopeful of striking a deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

Havertz has played a direct part in 39 league goals in the last two seasons and is supposedly valued in the region of £90m by Leverkusen.

Lampard is also in the market for a new goalkeeper, with Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak a possible target.
