Chelsea transfer news: Blues offer 'two players plus cash' for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers

Chelsea offer 'two players plus cash' for Villa attacker Rogers

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to step up their interest in Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers.

Since winning the Club World Cup, the Blues have remained relentless in the transfer market and are currently said to be closing in on two more additions.

As well as edging towards getting a deal for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato over the line, Chelsea want to sign RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons.

Even with players such as Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku expected to depart Stamford Bridge, there is understandably a perception that they already have enough attacking options in their squad.

However, according to Football Insider, Chelsea are prepared to get creative in order to secure the signature of Rogers over the coming weeks.

Which Chelsea players have been offered to Villa?

The report alleges that the West Londoners are prepared to offload each of Tosin Adarabioyo and Nicolas Jackson to Villa.

Jackson being included in any proposal should come as no surprise courtesy of the Senegal international having previously worked with Unai Emery at Villarreal.

Adarabioyo is a new name to enter the equation despite Enzo Maresca having previously talked up the centre-back as a leader of the dressing room.

Since signing from Fulham on a free transfer, Adarabioyo has made 29 starts and eight substitute outings in all competitions, scoring four goals.

With Villa valuing Rogers in the £100m-bracket, Chelsea seemingly hope that the asking price will be drastically reduced with the inclusion of such players.

Chelsea are previously said to have valued Jackson as a potential future £100m player, while it is plausible that Chelsea view Adarabioyo as someone who is worth in excess of £25m.

Should Chelsea end Rogers interest?

There are several reasons why Chelsea could benefit from signing Rogers, including his 17 goals and 16 assists from 70 appearances for Villa.

He is also known to many of Chelsea's former Manchester City contingent, including Adarabioyo, Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer.

However, if Simons arrives as expected, Chelsea do not require any further attackers, regardless of the England international bringing versatility to the forward line.

Even if the likes of Tyrique George and Marc Guiu go out on loan, Enzo Maresca would have at least eight players capable of being used in the front four attacking roles, as well as versatile midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
