Chelsea have reportedly given up hope of signing Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez as the Spanish outfit block any move for the midfielder.
The Blues have been showing interest in the 26-year-old and it was reported that Thomas Tuchel's side had decided to persist with their efforts to bring Niguez to Stamford Bridge.
That was after the potential transfer broke down towards the end of last week, as Tuchel was said to not be able to guarantee the Spaniard enough gametime to warrant a move to the reigning European champions.
Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea are convinced any deal for Niguez will collapse and therefore they will end their interest in the midfielder.
Niguez was a key member of Diego Simeone's side last season, featuring 41 times for Atletico Madrid across all competitions, and he has played a part in the first three La Liga games this campaign.
The Spanish international has a long-term contract at the Wanda Metropolitano, running until 2026, having already made 340 appearances for the club.
