Erling Braut Haaland is only named as a substitute for Manchester City's Premier League game with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Erling Braut Haaland has only been named as a substitute for Manchester City's Premier League game with Chelsea.

As a result of Nottingham Forest defeating Arsenal on Saturday evening, City have been crowned top-flight champions with three matches to spare.

Pep Guardiola has reacted to that result by making widespread changes to the team which thoroughly outplayed Real Madrid during a 4-0 romp in the Champions League semi-finals in midweek.

Guardiola has made as many as nine alterations with Kyle Walker and Manuel Akanji the only players to retain their places in the starting lineup.

Kalvin Phillips is finally provided with his first Premier League start of the season, while Cole Palmer and Sergio Gomez also feature from the opening whistle in a league fixture for the first time in 2022-23.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard has made as many as five changes to his Chelsea XI and has seemingly switched to a 3-5-2 formation.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga returns to take the place of Edouard Mendy between the sticks, with Wesley Fofana coming in for the injured Benoit Badiashile.

Having replaced the injured Mateo Kovacic during the 2-2 draw with Forest, Ruben Loftus-Cheek comes back into midfield, with Cesar Azpilicueta in line to start at right wing-back.

Kai Havertz gets the nod in attack alongside former City winger Raheem Sterling, with Noni Madueke and Joao Felix only being selected as replacements.
