John Terry requests personal hearing after denying FA charge

Chelsea defender John Terry denies an FA charge of using abusive and racist language towards Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea defender John Terry has denied an FA charge of using abusive and racist language towards Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

The charge is in relation to an incident between Terry and Ferdinand in a game between their two respective clubs in October, but Terry has denied any wrongdoing and he has requested a personal hearing.

A statement on the FA's official website read: "John Terry has today denied an FA charge of using abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour, which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race, towards Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand."

The Chelsea captain remains available to play for England.

Terry was recently found not guilty of committing a racially-aggregated public order offence towards Ferdinand in relation to the same incident.
