Patrick Vieira: 'Chelsea could stay unbeaten this season'

Patrick Vieira claims that Chelsea have the ability to avoid losing a game in the Premier League this season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira has suggested that Chelsea could go through the whole Premier League season without being beaten.

Chelsea's impressive start to the new campaign has sparked a debate about whether they can match the achievement of the Arsenal side in the 2003-04 season, and Vieira believes that Jose Mourinho's team could follow the example set by the 'Invincibles' on their way to the title.

When asked if a team could avoid defeat in the Premier League again, the Frenchman, who now manages Manchester City's Under-21 side, told reporters: "Yes, of course. Records are out there for teams to beat.

"I think one day that record will be beaten. I think that Chelsea look really promising. They have not specially played well but they keep winning and they look really strong.

"Physically, Chelsea look one of the strongest teams in the Premier League. They've got quality in [Eden] Hazard, [Cesc] Fabregas is back to his best and [Diego] Costa is scoring goals. So Chelsea look good."

Chelsea will look to extend their unbeaten run against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
