Raphael Varane: 'Jose Mourinho's winning mentality helps entire team'

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane believes that the winning mentality of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho always translates to his players, regardless of whom he is coaching.

Varane broke into the Madrid first team under Mourinho last season, and the young Frenchman talked up his former coach's way of working.

"Jose Mourinho is a winner, a competitor, and he transmits that to his players," Varane told FIFA.com.

"I'm only young and haven't had many coaches, which means it's difficult for me to make comparisons, but I'd say it's his personality and charisma, which were felt by the whole team.

"Wherever he's gone he's always created combative teams with lots of character."

Mourinho left Real Madrid this summer to take charge of the Blues.
