Fernando Torres: "I'm a different type of striker"

Fernando Torres believes that he will be a vital component in Chelsea's campaign this season following an unsettling period last year.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres believes that he has revived his career and has "learned" from last season's disappointing first full campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The Spain international, who won his 100th cap for his country in the European champions' 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Friday, is confident that he will be Chelsea's star frontman this season.

"I learned so much about myself last season and feel better for that experience now," ESPN quotes Torres as saying. "I'm playing much more for my club and you can see that I'm starting to score more goals and play better.

"I am a different type of striker than in the past. I created a lot of chances for my teammates last season and it means my game is more complete at this point in my career. To play in a new Chelsea team and still have something to aim for with Spain is exciting for me."

The 28-year-old moved to the Blues from Liverpool last January for £50m.
