John Terry hits back at Rafael Benitez: 'I proved you wrong'

John Terry indulges in a touch of triumphalism after leading Chelsea to Premier League glory, two years after being dropped by Rafael Benitez.

John Terry has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at former Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez after captaining the Blues to Premier League glory this afternoon.

Interim boss Benitez dropped Terry during his six-month reign two years ago, stating that he could not guarantee him a regular place in the side.

The 34-year-old, who has played every minute of Chelsea's league campaign this time around, is now delighted to prove the Spaniard wrong.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after Eden Hazard's goal secured the title at home to Crystal Palace, Terry said: "One person said I couldn't play twice in a week.

"He knows who he is. I have proved him wrong as I'm still fighting, still in the side and feeling great."

Jose Mourinho's side sit 16 points clear at the summit with three games to spare.
