Andre Schurrle: 'Chelsea need a big squad'

Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle insists that Chelsea need a big squad to cope with the demands of playing in four competitions.

Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle believes that possessing a "big squad" can only be positive for the club.

The Blues have completed a deal for Willian, with moves for Christian Atsu and Samuel Eto'o likely to go through before the end of the transfer window, and Schurrle has backed the club's recent recruitment drive.

The 22-year-old told reporters: "We need a big squad for the season because we have so many games in so many competitions, so we need a big squad with quality.

"I think this is good for every player because when you have many players, you have to give your best in all the training sessions and all of the matches, and that can only be positive for the team."

The Germany international has featured in two of Chelsea's opening three matches of the season.
