Report: Manuel Pellegrini in line for Chelsea job

Outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini reportedly emerges as a frontrunner alongside Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri for the Chelsea job.

Outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly emerged as one of the frontrunners to take over at Chelsea at the end of the season.

Pellegrini will leave the Citizens this summer due to the arrival of Pep Guardiola from Bayern Munich, but has already confirmed his intention to remain in Europe for the foreseeable future.

Man City are currently still in all four competitions this season and could scoop the first piece of silverware when they take on Liverpool in the League Cup final at the end of the month.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of high-profile managers to act as a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho once Guus Hiddink's interim stay at Stamford Bridge comes to an end.

The Sunday Times now reports that Pellegrini has joined that list, alongside Italian duo Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri.

Other names linked with the Chelsea post have included Diego Simeone and Jorge Sampaoli.

Chelsea and Manchester City will play each other in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
