Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: 'No problem with Diego Costa'

Jose Mourinho states that there is no issue between himself and Diego Costa, despite the striker's poor reaction to not being introduced from the bench against Spurs.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that there is no issue between himself and Diego Costa, who was benched for the Blues' stalemate against Tottenham Hotspur, despite the striker's seemingly poor behaviour during the fixture.

The Spain striker failed to show for the team's pre-match warm up, before appearing to throw his training bib in Mourinho's direction late in the game when it became apparent he would not be introduced.

Mourinho, however, maintains that there is no problem between himself and the Brazilian-born forward.

"Eden Hazard and Oscar always appeared in dangerous positions. If Costa watched the game with some attention from the bench he will know what is needed from him," the Portuguese manager told BT Sport following the 0-0 draw.

On the late substitutions he made, which did not include Costa, Mourinho added: "I was looking to find a winner with the players on the pitch. I was tempted not to change one player, and go for the 90 minutes with the same team.

"I made the first change of Willian because he was in a difficult situation and asked for a change, and the last change of Pedro was more of the same. But I was tempted not to change at all because the team was dangerous."

Mourinho's side occupy 14th position in the Premier League table following the draw.
