Juan Mata: I came to Chelsea because of Fernando Torres

Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata has claimed that Fernando Torres was one of the main reasons behind his move to the club last summer.

Mata has been one of Chelsea's stars this season and the 24-year-old has revealed that Torres has been a big help to him since his transfer from Valencia.

The Spaniard said: "It is hard to put into words what he has done for me so far. He was one of the fundamental reasons why I came here.

"I talked to him and he said I would be very settled here and I would enjoy English football, so thanks to him I came. He was very important in that sense and since I arrived he has helped with everything.

"He introduced me to people, he lent me his car, he let me stay in his house whenever I wanted. He has been a great help."

Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League.
