Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has rejected claims that his side played in a negative manner during his caretaker spell in charge of the club last season.
The 42-year-old, who was awarded a permanent two-year contract at Stamford Bridge last month, took charge of first-team affairs in March following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.
Di Matteo went on to mastermind an FA Cup and Champions League double triumph, but he has faced criticism for his team's tactics during their continental campaign.
Chelsea were successful despite being dominated by their opponents in terms of possession and shots during both legs of their semi-final with Barcelona, as well as in the final against Bayern Munich. However, Di Matteo has defended his team's approach against Europe's elite.
He said: "If you judge our work on three games out of the 21 I was involved in, you forget all the other games - the 4-1 against Napoli, the 5-1 against Tottenham [in the FA Cup semi-final] and all the other games where the team expressed their offensive potential.
"On average, we scored two goals every game. My teams usually create chances and score goals, so it's a bit unjustified to just focus on three games and give us a tag like that.
"We had some players out in the final against Bayern and I've not seen any other team play expansively against Barcelona."
Di Matteo has won 13 of his 21 games in charge of Chelsea, drawing five and losing three.
