Dani Alves: 'Pedro should not have left Barcelona for Chelsea'

Dani Alves says that Pedro should have snubbed a move to Chelsea and instead fought for his place at Barcelona.

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has revealed that he tried to convince Pedro to stay at Camp Nou and snub a move to Chelsea.

The Spaniard signed for the Premier League champions in the summer for a reported £21m fee.

Pedro, who struggled to get into the Barca team due to the attacking trio of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, was heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United, but was eventually poached by Jose Mourinho.

"I told Pedro he should have stayed at the team but too many people got involved," the London Evening Standard quotes Alves as saying.

"Had he stayed he would have been happy here but we don't make the decisions. If we did I would want him to stay for years."

Pedro has scored one goal and made one assist in seven league appearances for Chelsea, who reside in 16th in the standings after eight games.
