Football League confirms Frank Lampard goal

The Football League confirms that Frank Lampard has been awarded Chelsea's goal from their Capital One Cup quarter-final.

The Football League has confirmed that Chelsea's goal against Sunderland in the Capital One Cup earlier this week was scored by Frank Lampard.

It was initially unclear whether the final touch for the opening goal came from the midfielder or Sunderland's Lee Cattermole.

However, the Stamford Bridge side, who went on to lose the match in extra time, announced on their official website that the goal has been awarded to the England international.

Lampard has now scored 209 times for the club.
