Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Dinamo Zagreb

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Dinamo Zagreb

Chelsea will be looking to get their 2022-23 Champions League campaign off to a winning start when they travel to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.

Thomas Tuchel's side were knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Real Madrid last season, having beaten Manchester City in the final in the previous campaign to lift the Champions League for the second time in their history.

The Blues came from behind to secure a much-needed 2-1 victory against West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, while Dinamo Zagreb extended their sizable lead at the top of their domestic division by beating Rijeka 3-1 on Friday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Dinamo Zagreb in Group E.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: October 1 (vs. Crystal Palace)

N'Golo Kante was withdrawn in the closing stages of Chelsea's 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last month, with Tuchel revealing his key midfielder had picked up a hamstring injury. No specific time frame has been provided regarding Kante's return, but it is unlikely to be until after the September international break.

Thiago Silva

Status: Out Type of injury: Rested Possible return date: September 10 (vs. Fulham)

Thiago Silva has remained home in London, with Tuchel deciding to rest his 37-year-old defender. "We decided with Thiago [Silva] he will have a break from the travelling and the stress after playing every minute in very intense matches so far," Tuchel told reporters.
