Half-Time Report: Chelsea come from behind to lead

Chelsea come from behind to lead

Chelsea have recovered from an early Liverpool goal to lead 2-1 at half time at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Martin Skrtel put the visitors ahead after just four minutes, heading in from close range following a Philippe Coutinho free kick.

The hosts saw a chance for an Eden Hazard equaliser cleared off the line, before the Belgian tangled with Lucas in the area, resulting in appeals for a penalty, but referee Howard Webb disagreed.

Frank Lampard tried to get Chelsea back on level terms with a powerful strike from 25 yards, but Simon Mignolet was able to tip the ball over the bar.

Hazard's persistence paid off, though, as he managed to curl the ball in from the edge of the area in the 18th minute.

The Blues continued to look the stronger of the two sides and found themselves taking the lead when Samuel Eto'o managed to tap in from an Oscar cross.

Joe Allen had a good chance to add a second for the visitors in the final few minutes before the break, but Petr Cech reacted well to punch the ball away.
