Basel defender Philipp Degen says that his side can attack Chelsea with no fear following their home defeat in the Europa League.

Basel defender Philipp Degen has insisted that the Europa League semi-final tie with Chelsea is not yet over despite a 2-1 home defeat for the Swiss side in the first leg.

Degen admitted that the late David Luiz winner was disappointing, but that they will go to London to score goals as they now have "nothing to lose".

"We wanted to score the second goal and everybody in the stadium saw that," UEFA.com quotes Degen as saying. "We did everything to get to 1-1 and then after scoring the goal, we gave away such a soft goal but nothing is decided yet.

"We will have our chances in London – we have nothing to lose there. We have to attack as we usually attack but we could and should have achieved a better result here tonight.

"The main thing that we have to improve in London is that if we have a big chance, we have to score. I am not afraid of it because everyone has seen on many occasions – for example, against Tottenham Hotspur – what we can do."

Basel travel to London for the return leg on Thursday.
