Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech insists that his side will take the Europa League seriously after they were eliminated from the Champions League.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has insisted that Chelsea will do all they can to win the Europa League this season.

The European champions made an early exit from the Champions League after they finished third behind Juventus and Shakhtar Donetsk in their group, but Cech has insisted that his side must now focus their attention on winning the Europa League.

Cech told the club's official website: "It is still a European competition where you have a chance to win a trophy.

"In nine years I have spent here we have never played in it, so why not to try to win it? To have the Europa League trophy also counts."

Chelsea will be joined in the Europa League knockout stages by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
