Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is eager for Juan Mata to recover from a hamstring injury in time for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has admitted that he is eager for Juan Mata to return from injury in time for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Spanish playmaker was forced to miss Saturday's 1-1 draw with Swansea City in the Premier League because of a hamstring problem.

When asked if Mata would be fit to play at Stamford Bridge in midweek, Di Matteo replied: "I really hope so."

The Blues go into the match three points behind leaders Shakhtar in Group E.
