Chelsea 'could have Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech for rest of Champions League'

Chelsea 'could have Werner, Ziyech for rest of CL'

Chelsea may be handed a boost before they square off against Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the Blues suffered a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, which makes them huge underdogs for the return fixture at the Allianz Arena.

However, should Frank Lampard's team pull off a miraculous comeback, it appears that they may have two extra players at their disposal.

According to The Express, UEFA are scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss whether any new signings can feature in the mini-tournament version of the competition in August.

From the last eight onwards, each remaining side will compete in Lisbon, playing down to a final which will take place on August 23.

A change in the regulations would allow Chelsea to field Hakim Ziyech and potentially rumoured new signing Timo Werner.
