Brentford condemn Charlton Athletic to another loss

Brentford heap more misery on their West London rivals Charlton Athletic with a 3-0 win at The Valley.

Charlton Athletic are still without a win since August after they slumped to a 3-0 home defeat to West London rivals Brentford this afternoon.

The hosts could have gone ahead after four minutes when the ball fell kindly for Franck Moussa, but the midfielder dragged his effort well wide.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson then found himself one on one with David Button, but could only fire at the goalkeeper.

Stephen Henderson, who made his first appearance of the season, was forced into a save midway through the first half as he palmed away Alan Judge's fierce strike.

However, Judge turned provider in the 26th minute as John Swift headed home from the winger's cross to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

Alan McCormack almost doubled Brentford's lead on the stroke of half time but his fierce shot cannoned back off the underside of the bar.

Brentford went 2-0 ahead in the 56th minute as they broke with pace and Judge finished off the move by curling a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Charlton's misery was complete four minutes from time as Lasse Vibe fired home after another counter-attack to give the Bees their third successive win.
