Preview: Charlton Athletic vs. Reading

Sports Mole takes a closer look at Saturday's Championship meeting between Charlton Athletic and Reading.

Reading must switch their focus to the Championship once again this weekend after booking a trip to Wembley on Monday night.

A 3-0 victory over Bradford City has set up a meeting with Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-finals, and both players and supporters will be forgiven for already having one eye on that game.

The Royals currently sit 10 points clear of the relegation zone, and the form of the teams below them in the table means they are probably safe from the drop this season.

That fact puts more pressure on the clash with the Gunners, but Steve Clarke will be keen for his side to find form in the Championship as they look to gain momentum and boost their bid to upset Arsene Wenger's side next month.

Clarke's men have won just one of their last five Championship games, while Charlton have won four times over the same stretch of matches.

Guy Luzon watched his side return to their best form in midweek with a 3-0 victory over bottom club Blackpool, and they will be eager to follow up that result with another win as the Addicks look to secure a top-half finish.

Igor Vetokele was given a rest in the win over the Seasiders, and the striker could be forced to settle for a place on the bench behind Simon Church and Tony Watt.

After making 11 changes for the win over Bradford, Clarke is expected to rotate once again with the likes of Yakubu and Jem Karacan pushing for a recall.

Sports Mole says: 2-1
