Ronny Deila: 'We don't need to sell'

Deila: 'We don't need to sell'

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has insisted that the Scottish champions do not need to sell players to balance their books in January.

Centre-back Virgil van Dijk has been strongly linked with a move away from Celtic Park next month, but Deila has claimed that the defender "loves" being at the club.

"We want to keep every player, that is important to us. We want to be stronger when we go into February 1 than we are now. That's what we are aiming for, that's what we want and that's what is going to happen," he told Sky Sports News.

"The club doesn't need money, we sold Fraser Forster in the summer and we don't need to sell anybody, we want to keep them. We want to build a team, we have so many important games coming up and the players want to be a part of it.

"Virgil loves being here, loves the club and see himself longer term him than January. We will not sell him in January, that's a positive thing."

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Van Dijk.
