Thompson begins legal action against Celtic

Alan Thompson has begun legal proceedings against former employer Celtic after being dismissed as first-team coach last week.

The Scottish champions claimed in a statement that the 38-year-old, failed to attend a pre-arranged meeting with the Parkhead boss in Newcastle.

Thompson has instructed his lawyers, Bridge Litigation, to begin legal action and they released a statement this evening.

"[Thompson] is profoundly disappointed, given his strong feelings for the club, but remains deeply proud of his long and successful association with Celtic," read the statement.

"Legal action has been instructed and is at a preliminary stage, however, Alan wishes this all be to be resolved amicably with Celtic, given his acknowledged feelings for the club."

Thompson played for the Glasgow club for seven years in the last decade, winning four Scottish Premier League titles and three Scottish Cups.
