Cardiff City executives to consider switch back to blue

Cardiff City executives will hold a board meeting on Friday to discuss changing the club colour from red back to blue.

Cardiff City executives will hold a board meeting on Friday to discuss changing the club colour back to blue, following talks with fans on Thursday.

Club owner Vincent Tan caused controversy in 2012 when he rebranded the Welsh outfit from blue to red, which led to protests from fans who felt that the club's identity had been lost.

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman told BBC Sport: "I think Vincent will give this a great deal of consideration. [Tan] will listen and he will consider.

"It's very clear what came out of the meeting. There was a strong feeling that the club should return to blue, but there was also an understanding that Vincent likes red and that should be respected."

Cardiff's average home attendance during their Premier League season in 2013-14 was just over 27,000, but since relegation that has dipped to under 20,000.
