Cambuur battle to 1-0 win at home to Heracles

A first-half goal from Sander van de Streek gave Cambuur a 1-0 win over Heracles Almelo in the Eredivisie tonight.

Van de Streek almost scored after 11 minutes, but his header struck the post as the home side made a bright start.

However, he only had to wait eight further minutes to break the deadlock as he applied a neat finish to fluid team move from inside the box.

Midfielder Erik Bakker went close to doubling Cambuur's lead from distance, but his shot sailed wide.

In the second half, chances were harder to come by but Hearcles may feel that they should have scored when Bryan Linssen sent a free header straight at Leonard Nienhuis in goal.

Cambuur held on for a result that keeps Heracles in the relegation zone.
