David Flitcroft leads League Two Manager of the Month contenders

Bury boss David Flitcroft is named as one of four contenders for September's Manager of the Month award in League Two.

Bury boss David Flitcroft has been named as one of four nominees for September's Manager of the Month award in League Two.

The Shakers kept their hopes of automatic promotion alive last month thanks to three wins and a draw from five matches.

Wycombe Wanderers's Gareth Ainsworth is also on the shortlist as a five-game unbeaten run put his side in touch of the league leaders.

Meanwhile, Phil Brown of Southend United finds himself among the contenders for the award after four straight wins helped the Shrimpers remain in the playoff places.

Exeter City coach Paul Tisdale rounds off the nominees as three consecutive victories brought some optimism to St James' Park following seven games without a win at the start of the season.

The winner of the award is due to be announced on Friday.
