Nicky Shorey expects first Bristol City win

Nicky Shorey claims that Bristol City will win their first league match of the season in the near future.

Bristol City defender Nicky Shorey has expressed his belief that the club's first league win will come in the near future.

Sean O'Driscoll's side currently sit in the League One relegation zone after failing to win any of their first eight fixtures.

However, Shorey has said that the players have been working hard behind the scenes to improve their fortunes.

"There is a lot of good work being put in behind the scenes by the lads and the coaching staff and I don't think we are far away. Football is about fine margins and, at the minute, results are going against us," Shorey told the Bristol Post.

"I'm convinced fortunes will turn back in our favour and, when they do, everyone will relax and we'll be able to put a run together.

"There is no secret formula [for achieving that first win]. We have to just keep working hard and keep doing the good things we've done in recent games. I've seen enough in my time here to convince me will not be waiting long for that win."

The Robins face Colchester United at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
