Tuesday's Championship predictions including Southampton vs. Ipswich Town

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Southampton vs. Ipswich Town.

Bristol City vs. Plymouth (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Bristol City will be bidding to return to winning ways in the Championship when they welcome Plymouth Argyle to Ashton Gate on Tuesday night.

The home side will enter the contest off the back of a goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, while Plymouth suffered a 2-1 defeat to Preston North End on the same afternoon.

We say: Bristol City 1-1 Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth are on a run of four defeats from five, while they have only drawn once in all competitions this season, but we are backing a stalemate here. Bristol City have shared the points in two of their last three Championship matches and might be forced to settle for another point on Tuesday night.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Cardiff vs. Coventry (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Cardiff City will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins in the Championship when they welcome Coventry City to Wales on Tuesday night.

The home side will enter the contest off the back of a two-goal success over rivals Swansea City, while Coventry drew their fourth straight match on Saturday, sharing the points with Hull City.

We say: Cardiff City 1-1 Coventry City

Coventry have been the draw specialists in recent weeks, and we are predicting another stalemate here. Cardiff are in strong form at this moment in time, but they will be welcoming a Coventry outfit that are difficult to beat, which has led us to predict a low-scoring draw on Tuesday night.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Preston vs. Birmingham (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

League leaders Preston North End will attempt to continue their unbeaten start to the Championship season when they welcome Birmingham City to Deepdale on Tuesday.

While the hosts are experiencing a fine run of form, Birmingham will be looking for a response after suffering their first league defeat of the season at the weekend.

We say: Preston North End 1-0 Birmingham City

Preston are currently in irrepressible form, and after winning all three league home games this season, we think that they will make full use of home advantage once again to edge out Birmingham in Tuesday's encounter.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

QPR vs. Swansea (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Both Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City will be bidding to bounce back from defeats when they lock horns at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.

The home side will enter the contest off the back of a 3-1 loss to Sunderland, while Swansea were on the end of a two-goal defeat to rivals Cardiff City last time out.

We say: Queens Park Rangers 2-1 Swansea City

QPR have not actually beaten Swansea at home in any competition since January 2020, with their last success in the league at Loftus Road coming in April 2019. This is a match that could go either way, but we have a feeling that QPR will be able to navigate their way to an important three points.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Southampton vs. Ipswich (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Out to avoid yet another chastening defeat in the month of September, Southampton welcome high-flying Ipswich Town to St Mary's for Tuesday's Championship battle.

The Saints were torn to shreds in a 4-1 home loss at the hands of Leicester City last time out, while the Tractor Boys cemented a podium place by beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0.

We say: Southampton 1-2 Ipswich Town

It may have been nearly 16 years since Ipswich last got the better of Southampton in a competitive fixture, but Russell cannot fix the Saints' horrendous defensive play overnight, and such frailties should prove fatal once again.

Ipswich are hardly consistent at the back themselves, but McKenna's in-form troops have conceded just one goal on the road so far and were unlucky not to put Wednesday to the sword by more goals at the weekend, so another Tractor Boys success is the only outcome we can envisage.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Sheff Weds vs. Middlesbrough (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

The Championship's two worst-performing outfits clash at Hillsborough in Tuesday's basement battle, as Sheffield Wednesday welcome Middlesbrough to their headquarters.

The Owls' woes continued in a 1-0 home loss to Ipswich Town at the weekend, while Michael Carrick's men were put to the sword 2-1 by Blackburn Rovers.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Middlesbrough

With a mere eight goals between them so far, sparks should not fly in the final third when the Championship's cellar dwellers lock horns this week, and there is little that can separate the two strugglers on paper.

Jellied legs from the weekend may also play its part in a drab affair, one which we can picture ending without the net rippling once as both sides' winless runs continue.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.
