Brighton & Hove Albion sign Gaetan Bong after Wigan Athletic exit

Gaetan Bong signs a two-year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion after leaving Wigan Athletic.

Cameroon international Gaetan Bong has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old was a free agent after seeing his short-term deal with Wigan Athletic come to an end earlier this summer.

"Gaetan is a player that we were aware of before he came to England, while he was at Olympiacos in Greece," Seagulls boss Chris Hughton told the club website.

"When he joined Wigan in February it provided us with the ideal opportunity to monitor his progress in England.

"That gave us a really good opportunity to watch him at close hand in the Championship, and we saw him a lot during that time and he was one of the outstanding players for them."

Bong made 14 appearances for Wigan during the second half of last season as the Latics were relegated from the Championship.
