Arce and Alzate return to Brighton while defender Kerr joins Derry on loan

Brighton winger Billy Arce has returned from his loan spell at Spanish Segunda Division club Extremadura UD, while under-23 defender Josh Kerr has joined Derry City on a six-month deal.

Arce, 20, signed for the Seagulls during August 2018 from Ecuadorian side CSD Independiente Del Valle, and moved straight to Spain on a temporary deal, making four appearances including the full match of the Copa Del Rey tie against Alcorcon.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old centre-back Kerr, signed from Celtic in May 2017, has linked up with the League of Ireland club for the rest of the campaign.

Under-23 coach Simon Rusk said on the Brighton website: "This is a good loan move for Josh, and one that will allow him to play first-team football on a regular basis. We will keep a close eye on his progress."

The centre-back made nine league appearances in Albion's Premier League 2 Division 2 promotion-winning campaign last season, scoring once in a 4-2 win over Fulham.

Brighton also confirmed under-23s midfielder Steven Alzate had returned to the club from Swindon after suffering a lower back injury.

The 20-year-old made 26 appearances and scored three goals during his time on loan at the County Ground.
