Eddie Howe: 'Derby County clash not just another game'

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says that his side's game against Derby County on Tuesday has extra significance for both teams.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that Tuesday night's match against Derby County has extra significance for both sides.

The Cherries are level on points with the Rams at the summit of the Championship table, with only a better goal difference putting Howe's men on top.

Howe has insisted that the clash at Dean Court will be different to a normal game.

"I can't downplay it and say it's just another game," the 37-year-old told BBC Radio Solent.

"We're playing one of our rivals. For us it's about the performance - we want to give the best account of ourselves.

"Hopefully with a sell-out crowd willing us on it should be a good night. We need to keep winning and be consistent."

Derby ran out 2-0 winners when the sides last met at the iPro Stadium in September.
