Silva to Dortmund, Vazquez to Leverkusen, Leeds sign Justin: Latest transfer news and rumours

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers over the signing of striker Fabio Silva.

The Athletic reports that a fee in the region of €25m (£21.6m) has been proposed by the Bundesliga club, with discussions over the structure of the deal and bonuses said to be ongoing.

A separate report from Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Silva and Dortmund now have a ‘total verbal agreement’ in place over a contract until 2030 and the striker is ready for a medical as soon as a transfer fee is agreed.

Silva joined Wolves in 2020 from Portuguese club Porto for what was then a club-record £35m fee, but he has failed to reach the heights expected at Molineux and has experienced four loan spells away from the club in the last three seasons.

The one-cap Portugal international has not made a competitive appearance for Wolves since the first half of the 2023-24 season when he featured just 10 times before joining Rangers.

Silva scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 24 games on loan at Spanish outfit La Palmas last season, but he could not prevent the club’s relegation from La Liga.

Vazquez set to link up with Ten Hag at Leverkusen

Another player seemingly heading to the Bundesliga is former Real Madrid man Lucas Vazquez, who has allegedly agreed to join Bayer Leverkusen.

The 34-year-old right-flanker has been without a club since ending his career-long association with the Spanish giants following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Vazquez has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Leverkusen and he has already completed a ‘secret’ medical.

Vazquez is expected to fly to Germany ahead of a formal announcement from Leverkusen, who are now managed by former Manchester United and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag following the departure of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.

Since and including his senior debut for Real Madrid in 2015, Vazquez made a total of 402 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions and won 20 trophies, including five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.

Leeds announce signing of Justin from Leicester

Elsewhere, Leeds United have confirmed the signing of full-back James Justin from Leicester City in a deal believed to be worth £8m plus £2m in add-ons.

The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Elland Road and becomes Daniel Farke’s 10th summer signing since securing promotion to the Premier League as last season’s Championship title winners.

“Obviously to join a club of this size and to have the history it has had, and being back in the Premier League was a massive thing for me, so I'm over the moon to have joined,” Justin told Leeds’ official website.

“It's been a while since I've known of the interest, but obviously I was still a Leicester player, so I had to give my all for Leicester whilst I was there.

“That's something obviously that you can expect from me when I put on a Leeds shirt, is to give my all when I'm on the pitch. But for it to finally have happened, it’s taken a weight off my shoulders for sure.

“Everyone that I've spoken to about the club and the area has had great things to say about it. So I'm excited to join the lads and get to work.”

Justin, who leaves Leicester after making 169 appearances over a six-year period, could make his Premier League debut for Leeds when they welcome Newcastle United to Elland Road on Saturday.
