Marco Reus has put Borussia Dortmund on course to climb off the bottom of the Bundesliga table by giving his side a 1-0 half-time lead over Freiburg.
It took Dortmund less than nine minutes to break the deadlock as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sprinted clear of the nervy Freiburg defence before leaving the ball to Reus, who tapped in from close range.
Despite the early goal from the visitors, it was Freiburg who dictated the tempo for much of the half, but their struggles to create chances ensured that it was a comfortable 45 minutes for the Dortmund defence.
Jurgen Klopp's side improved as the first half progressed and they came close to doubling their lead when Shinji Kagawa tested Roman Burki with a powerful strike from just inside the box.
