Chris Eagles: 'Dougie Freedman showed me no respect at Bolton Wanderers'

New Blackpool signing Chris Eagles hits back at former Bolton manager Dougie Freedman for disrespecting and exiling him during his spell with Wanderers.

Chris Eagles has strongly hit back at Dougie Freedman's claims that he was a disruptive influence at Bolton Wanderers.

The 29-year-old, who signed a short-term deal with Blackpool on Tuesday, left the Trotters in the summer having not made an appearance since February.

He was one of a number of players exiled during Freedman's tenure at the Reebok Stadium because the Scot felt that they were more interested in money than playing football.

However, Eagles has insisted that this was not the case and wants to clear his name ahead of a fresh start with the struggling Tangerines.

"I believe Dougie Freedman was saying I was a disruptive influence and they never offered me a contract," he said to the Blackpool Gazette.

"They offered me a number of contracts but I felt it wasn't worth signing. I didn't like him and I didn't like the way he managed.

"He showed me no respect, which is a shame as I loved it at Bolton. I would like to thank Bolton and their fans. I've had to keep my mouth shut."

Eagles made over 100 appearances for Wanderers after joining from Burnley in 2011.
