Boca Juniors suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss against Argentinos Juniors in Thursday's encounter at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Sebastian Battaglia's found themselves with a mountain to climb having conceded at the interval after conceding first-half goals to Gabriel Carabajal and Gaston Veron.

The Blue and Gold have slipped down to 15th place in the standings and are currently seven points off top spot after just nine rounds of matches.

Their next task comes against an opposing outfit with little to choose between the teams as the last 18 meetings have yielded eight wins apiece for either side and two draws.

Having snapped a three-game home losing streak in their last outing on home turf, Monday's hosts will be looking to pick up where they left off in front of their fans.

Estudiantes' Ezequiel Munoz remains without an appearance since March as the defender continues to battle with a long-term knee injury.

Pablo Piatti head into Monday's contest looking to score for the third game in a row and the 33-year-old is definitely one to look out for.

Boca Juniors' Gabriel Aranda is set to sit out a fifth consecutive match with an ankle problem, while Carlos Izquierdoz misses out through a torn muscle.

The away side will also have to make do with the absence of Diego Gonzalez who continue his spell on the treatment table due to a knee injury.
