Blackpool began their Championship campaign with a 1-0 win away at Hull City.

Tom Kearney came closest for the hosts in the first-half as his free-kick struck the crossbar, while Kevin Phillips hit the post for the visitors.

The home side nearly went ahead after the break with chances for Nick Barmby and Matt Fryatt.

The Seasiders took the lead in the 80th minute when former Hull City player Gary Taylor-Fletcher's strike found the back of the net to secure the three points.
