Blackpool were looking to arrest a run of two straight defeats when high-flying Queens Park Rangers visited Bloomfield Road this afternoon.

The Tangerines were unable to do so and slumped to a third consecutive loss as QPR went top of the table thanks to goals from Matt Phillips and Charlie Austin.

Read how it all unfolded on the Lancashire coast in our minute-by-minute updates below.

Afternoon folks! The feature 3pm kickoff in the Championship this week sees two of the top seven do battle at Bloomfield Road. It's Blackpool vs. QPR and team news from the Lancashire coast is coming right up...

BLACKPOOL XI: Gilks, Basham, Broadfoot, Cathcart, Robinson, Ferguson, Osbourne, Gosling, Delfouneso, Ince, Davies

BLACKPOOL SUBS: Warner, Harris, Blackett, Dobbie, Grant, Chopra, Barkhuizen

QPR XI: Green; Simpson, Dunne, Hill, Assou-Ekotto, Phillips, Carroll, O’Neil, Barton, Jenas, Austin

QPR SUBS: Murphy; Traore, Onuoha, Chevanton, Kranjcar, Henry, Hoilett

PREDICTION TIME! Just 10 minutes until the majority of games kick off up and down the country, including this one at Bloomfield Road. I have to favour the away side today with Blackpool's suspensions. 1-0 to the visitors.

Paul Ince is able to welcome back Kirk Broadfoot in defence after he served a one-match suspension. Gary MacKenzie, Ricardo Fuller, Neal Bishop and Angel Martinez are all suspended. Blackpool's discipline has been shocking recently after five sendings off in their last two games!

Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, is without Andy Johnson because of injury. Matty Phillips lines up for Rangers against former club Blackpool for the first time.

The two sides are out on the pitch and we're almost ready to go. Both teams in their home colours of orange and blue-and-white and orange.

KICKOFF! We're underway at Bloomfield Road.

Jenas is denied by a brilliant Gilks save but was offside anyway. Little else to speak of in the early stages.

UPDATE: The first goal of the day elsewhere in the Championship comes at Bournemouth as Birmingham go ahead thanks to Andrew Shinnie. The red live scores box on the right is where you should be looking to keep an eye on the scores.

Patient approach play from QPR comes to an end when Carroll's attempt at a through-ball to Phillips is easily cut out.

"Harry, give us a wave! Harry, Harry give us a wave!" chant the QPR fans. He duly responds.

CHANCE! Clearest opening of the match as Robinson dinks into the area where Davies meets it powerfully but can't beat Green, who dives to his right and holds well.

SAVE! Green is tested again as Cathcart leaps highest to head a loose ball at goal. It's fairly central and Green plays it safe by tipping over.

Another chance for Cathcart as Delfouneso finds him after QPR failed to clear a corner. Poor finish though as he shoots over from eight yards.

After a bit of a nothing start, it's been all Blackpool in the last five minutes or so. QPR have the league's most stubborn defence though and will be tough to breach.

Blackpool appeal for a penalty as O'Neil makes a challenge but referee Stuart Attwell says no.

O'Neil lucky to escape a booking moments later as he goes in very late on Osbourne. Next challenge he'll surely see yellow.

Awful dive in the area from Broadfoot that Attwell should book the Blackpool defender for, but doesn't.

JUST WIDE! Gosling somehow makes his way into the area after a couple of flimsy QPR challenges. He manages to get away a shot that curls just wide of the far post.

Odd moment as Austin appears to be tripped and falls on the ball and holds on to it. He wants a free kick but it goes the other way for handball.

Basham's long throw almost falls kindly for Delfouneso but runs away from danger. Iffy defending from the visitors.

Games in Scotland are being called off this afternoon because of windy conditions. There's a strong breeze at Bloomfield Road this afternoon and it's not helping the quality of football.

Almost a dodgy moment for Gilks as he has to come out to claim a long ball and almost steps out of the area with the ball.

Just one minute of time added on at the end of the first half.

HALF TIME: BLACKPOOL 0-0 QPR

It remains as it started at Bloomfield Road after 45 minutes of play.

Redknapp won't be happy with his side at all. Charlie Austin has barely been in the game up front and I wouldn't be surprised if changes are made sooner rather than later.

As things stand, QPR will be moving level on points with Burnley at the top of the table. The Clarets have the better goal difference though so will be first if it remains a draw here.

Blackpool, meanwhile, will drop to eighth if scores stay the same, with Leeds, Derby and Reading are all winning.

KICKOFF! We're back underway at Bloomfield Road. Nedum Onuoha is on for Clint Hill for the visitors. Must be an injury for the latter.

Former Tangerine Phillips lets fly from distance and strikes it well but too close to Gilks who holds well.

SAVE! We haven't seen much of Blackpool's biggest talent Ince but he's just tested Green with a powerful low drive that had to be tipped wide.

CHANCE! Massive, massive chance for Blackpool. Jenas's pass back to Dunne is short and allows Gosling to steal in. He has the simplest of square passes to Ince but somehow overruns it. Ince manages to keep it in and crosses for Gosling who can't keep his header down.

QPR SUB: As expected, Redknapp doesn't wait too long to make a change, sending on Niko Kranjcar for O'Neil.

Looking at the Blackpool bench, the first man that you'd expect to come on is Steven Dobbie. If the Seasiders really want a goal then Ince might look to Michael Chopra.

GOAL! BLACKPOOL 0-1 QPR (PHILLIPS)

It had to be Phillips! The former Blackpool man picks up a poor clearance from Gilks before shooting at goal with his left foot. It takes a deflection off Cathcart and wrongfoots Gilks, who can't get a strong enough hand on the ball to keep it out. Phillips doesn't feel bad about scoring against his former club as he runs away celebrating exuberantly.

CHANCE! Phillips almost doubles his and QPR's total as he is played in to the right of goal but can't beat Gilks from a tight angle.

Phillips is all over this game at the moment. He drives forward from the right and cuts inside before dragging his left-foot shot wide of the near post.

BLACKPOOL SUB: It's Chopra who is sent on first, with Davies making way in a like-for-like change up front for the hosts.

Almost a clear-cut chance for Austin but Gilks is out of his goal quickly to pounce on Carroll's incisive through-ball.

BLACKPOOL SUB: Osbourne is hobbling after a heavy challenge and is taken off by Ince, with Tom Barkhuizen on.

GOAL! BLACKPOOL 0-2 QPR (AUSTIN)

Rangers are going back to the top of the Championship! Austin has hardly been noticeable this afternoon but takes his chance when it comes by planting a header past Gilks after a good cross from Phillips.

The offside flag spares Chopra's blushes after he failed to bring down a ball at the back post.

SAVE! Acrobatic stop from Gilks as he prevents Carroll making it three.

BLACKPOOL SUB: Final change for Blackpool as Bobby Grant replaces Delfouneso.

QPR SUB: Moments after Robinson blazed a half-volley over, Redknapp sends on the assuring presence of Karl Henry for Jermaine Jenas in the middle.

Blackpool are offering very little here. They know the game is up.

FOUR minutes of added time have been signalled by the fourth official.

Austin tries to score his second with a shot from 25 yards that rasps past the upright.

FULL TIME: BLACKPOOL 0-2 QPR

It's outright first for QPR in the Championship as they go two points clear of Burnley at the summit.

Blackpool dip down to ninth and are now two points off the top six. It's a third straight defeat for the Tangerines but at least they didn't have anyone sent off today.
