Christopher Samba has revealed that he signed for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala because it represented a "new challenge" in his career.
The defender left Blackburn Rovers for around £12m on Friday evening after five years at Ewood Park.
"It was quite sudden and a little bit anxious. I see it as a new challenge," he told Sky Sports News.
"It's a little club who want to become a very big one in Russia. A very powerful owner wants to transform the club and bring the club to greatness."
Anzhi recently appointed former Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink as manager.
