Blackburn Rovers sign Wes Brown on short-term contract

Blackburn sign Brown on short-term deal

Blackburn Rovers have announced the signing of Wes Brown on a contract until the end of the season.

The 36-year-old, who has been a free agent since leaving Sunderland earlier this year, has been training with Rovers since the start of pre-season.

Manager Owen Coyle confirmed earlier this week that he wanted to sign the defender, who made more than 350 appearances during a 15-year spell at Manchester United.

Brown left Old Trafford in 2011 with five Premier League winners' medals, as well as two from the FA Cup and two Champions League triumphs.

At Blackburn, Brown will also work alongside Damien Johnson and David Dunn in coaching the Under-23s at Ewood Park.

The defender will be available for this weekend's Championship match away to Derby County.
