Sunderland make Craig Gardner enquiry

Sunderland have reportedly made an offer for Birmingham City midfielder Craig Gardner.

Steve Bruce has made a £5m enquiry for the 24-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

Gardner was the Blues’ top goalscorer of last season, scoring ten across all competitions. He could be a replacement for Jordan Henderson at the Stadium of Light, after the 20-year-old was signed to Liverpool last week.

Meanwhile, Birmingham City are without a functioning manager following Alex McLeish’s disputed resignation.
