Gary Rowett keen for permanent James Vaughan switch

Birmingham boss Gary Rowett confirms that he is interested in bringing Huddersfield striker James Vaughan back to St Andrew's after his loan expired.

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has confirmed that he is interested in bringing Huddersfield Town striker James Vaughan to the club on a permanent basis.

Vaughan joined Birmingham on a short-term loan in November, making six appearances for the club without scoring before returning to the John Smith's Stadium on Monday.

However, Rowett is keen to bring him back to St Andrew's and said that the ball is now in Huddersfield's court over a possible transfer.

"Vaughany is one we have said quite openly we would like to try and do something with," Rowett is quoted as saying by PA.

"He is Huddersfield's player so whatever Huddersfield want to do that's their prerogative."

Birmingham currently sit eighth in the Championship table, 10 places and 11 points better off than Huddersfield.
