Nigel Clough: 'Chris Burke remains a target'

Derby County boss Nigel Clough reiterates his interest in Birmingham City midfielder Chris Burke.

Derby County boss Nigel Clough has confirmed that the club are still interested in signing Birmingham City midfielder Chris Burke.

The Rams reportedly came close to recruiting the 29-year-old in the summer before his current club took up their one-year option on the Scot. However, Clough has revealed that he will now attempt to sign the winger on loan.

"Chris is one we have talked about, certainly. But it depends on player availability and all sorts of other things," Clough told reporters at a press conference.

"We have already made some enquiries this week so we have a couple of people thinking about things and a couple of clubs have said they want to hang on and see what happens.

"It is a bit of a waiting game but very rarely in the loan market do you go for your number one target and everything slots into place, so you have to be patient."

Derby currently sit 14th in the Championship table.
